Learn How to Develop an Inbound Marketing Campaign with this Checklist

How do you run an inbound marketing campaign?

First, let me explain what inbound marketing is.

Inbound marketing is a methodology that helps businesses attract strangers and turn them into customers.

It's a way of thinking about marketing that's focused on attracting customers to you, rather than interrupting them with messages they don't want.

The purpose of inbound marketing is to create valuable marketing content that pulls people toward your product or brand, where they naturally want to be.

The channels that marketers use today are different, but the same problem remains disconnected tools and channels mean it’s tough to measure results, and the experience for your leads often feels disconnected.

Chances are, you might be overlooking a few that can help drive more business to your website.

To make sure you’re not missing any opportunities, we’ve put together a Free Campaign Checklist with our partner HubSpot.

Let’s dive into it.

✅ Step 1: Identify your campaign audience. Who are we talking to here? Understand your buyer persona before launching into a campaign, so you can target them correctly.

This may seem obvious! But is one of the most commonly overlooked parts to planning and it’s usually left until after you have created your content assets.

✅ Step 2: Set your goals + benchmarks. Having SMART goals can help you be sure that you’ll have tangible results to share with the world (or your boss) at the end of your campaign. Also, consider your company-wide goals here.

✅ Step 3: Create your offer(s) + landing pages. Don’t forget to optimise your landing page for SEO and have a clear value proposition and call to action (usually a form for the user to complete).

✅ Step 4: Plan and build your automation / nurturing flows. Your campaign doesn’t end when leads convert on your landing page. Plan and build your follow-up campaigns to nurture leads down your funnel. This is another most overlooked part of planning that can create a disconnect for your new hard-earned leads.

✅ Step 5: Write a blog post. Your campaign is awesome – don’t hide it from the world. Use your blog post as an opportunity to introduce readers to the valuable content they’ll find in your offer.

Step 6: Share it on social media. Promote your blog post and offer through social media to drive traffic into the top of your funnel.

✅ Step 7: Consider paid search and other channels. Other channels can be a part of your inbound campaign, too – just be sure that you are measuring the effectiveness of these channels.

✅ Step 8: Track your URLs. Where is your traffic coming from, and how are visitors finding you? Tracking URLs can help.

✅ Step 9: Report on Your Results. Hard work shouldn’t go unmeasured. You set goals at the very beginning; now it’s time to celebrate your success. Organise and show off your numbers at the end of the campaign.

That’s it… simple, right?
